Parent Involvement
Following guidelines from the Colorado Department of Health, we are unable to have parents in the classroom this year. Instead, we will have a daily “adult in the building” shift during school hours and families will be assigned to either the cleaning or fundraising committee. Parent participation is around 3 to 6 hours per month.
Procedures
Arrival
Mrs. Bonnema will be greet children at the front door or playground gate depending on the weather. Children will get a squirt of hand sanitizer upon entering. Students and all parents/responsible adults doing drop off/pick up are asked to wear masks and bring their own pens to sign the child(ren) in for the day. Sign in will include an acknowledgement that temperatures were taken that morning, the child(ren) is fever free and has not experienced Covid-like symptoms.
Masks
Mask wearing will be expected and encouraged during circle and story time and anytime when physical distancing isn’t likely.
Snacks
Children will bring their own snacks from home each day in a lunchbox along with a water bottle. We will be providing healthy snack guidance.
Supplies
Children will bring their own supplies on the first day of school. The school will provide a box to store them in to avoid cross contamination and the children touching each other’s supplies. A complete supply list will be given upon registration but will include things like crayons, glue, glue stick, markers, etc.
Cleaning and Sanitizing
All high touch areas will be sanitized before school and throughout the day. Toys will be sanitized daily with a fogger and deep cleaning of the toys and the classroom will be done between classes (Wednesday afternoon/evening and over the weekend). Cleaning and sanitizing practices will follow EPA approved practices to sanitize and with methods proven effective in eliminating COVID-19.
