We believe skills learned by participating in art and music transfer to communication skills, study skills and cognitive skills. An education in the arts helps children pass from school into the world of work and community.
Art Classes at Fort Collins Preschool
Professionally taught art classes are offered to the children as part of the curriculum.
Art classes teach children about line and form, shape and color, textures, and technique. In addition, the styles of several famous artists are discussed and the children are provided with activities that reinforce the instruction.
Music Classes at Fort Collins Preschool
Children participate in music several times a month.
The Intermediate (3s) class has an informal music program. Songs and finger plays are introduced to develop memory and motor skills. Songs are sung to reinforce themes and children get to explore a variety of movement activities and instruments.
Pre K and Jr K (4s and 5s) children are exposed to a more formal music program taught by an experienced music instructor. The classes provide activities that help children to be successful in experiencing music-related concepts. The children experience rhythm, beat and melody, they are provided opportunities for movement and dance, and they are introduced to different cultures and different instruments.
